Challenge Weekends: Faith + Work Formation

The WorkLight Challenge Weekend is a two-day retreat that explores God’s vision for our work lives.

Participants reflect on their calling, experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and learn how to live out faith in the real world with excellence, humility, and accountability. Sessions are practical, Spirit-filled, and rooted in Scripture.

Topics Include:

  • Work: Part of God’s Plan – Seeing work as essential to God’s design
  • A Love Story – Understanding God’s evolving love through creation
  • Responding to God’s Love – Personal reflection, repentance, and renewal
  • Experiencing the Power of the Holy Spirit – Releasing spiritual gifts and strength
  • Growing in Relationship with Jesus – Daily practices of prayer, Scripture, and discernment
  • Stewards of Creation – Using our gifts, influence, and work to advance God’s kingdom

Challenge Groups: Ongoing Growth & Accountability

After the Challenge Weekend, participants are invited to join small Challenge Groups that meet every two weeks.

These groups are led by trained facilitators and provide space for discussion, encouragement, and accountability. They help people stay grounded in Scripture, support one another in daily life, and bring consistent spiritual growth into the workplace.

As of May 2025, 78 small groups are meeting regularly across Uganda.

  • I own a small coffee plantation. I learned from ICIC that my workers are human beings who need to be treated with dignity and care. I treat them much better now and they are happier and work harder.

  • Through CIC we have learned how to forgive, how to love and care for others, how to be humble, how to seek God in prayer, and how to be human beings who can love those who are difficult to love. We have learned servant leadership. We have built a community of brothers and sisters

  • I am a teacher at Mitandi Secondary School. For me, workplace conflict had finished me. My problem was hitting back at every staff member who seemed to disturb me. When I attended Christ at workplace seminar at my school, I developed a different approach, the Christ approach to mistreatment at workplace. The situation changed. I applied patience calmness to my everyday interaction with people even my husband. This decreased the conflict in my life. I did not at that moment have money for the seminar but I was accepted to attend for free. I was told our friends in USA are supporting us.

  • ICIC gave me a family, I don't have parents, blood brothers, sisters or cousins. I lived a lonely life. One day Aloysius invited me to a Challenge Weekend where I experienced the love of God. I was challenged to be the first to extend the love of God to other people. I have been doing that and it has given me a wide family. In one day I can have ten people calling on my phone
