About ICIC:

A Christian Ministry in Uganda with US Support

ICIC (International Christians in Communion) is a Christ-centered nonprofit initially established in Uganda and supported by partners across the United States. Our mission is to help people live their faith in practical, everyday ways—at work, in their homes, and throughout their communities.

Where It All Began

ICIC was founded over 20 years ago in Fort Portal, Uganda, as a chapter of CIC/WorkLight, a US-based non-profit with a workplace mission focus. Over the last 20 years, the Uganda outreach found it culturally necessary to expand the mission to encompass family and community as well as the workplace. To maintain the workplace focus of CIC /WorkLight, ICIC was created as a separate non-profit, focusing on those who want to be Christ to their neighbors—not just in the marketplace but in the family and the community, and not just in words, but in action. What started as one small local chapter in Ft. Portal has become a growing ministry with proven impact.

Today, ICIC is led by local Ugandan teams and supported by U.S.-based partners who share the same commitment to faith, service, and transformation.

What We Do

ICIC equips people to live out the Gospel through:

  • Workplace Ministry and Challenge Groups, helping people integrate Christian and commerce (ICIC) values in their daily work. Programs include WorkLight, Working for My Father, and other marketplace discipleship tools.
  • Small Faith Sharing Groups that meet regularly for Scripture reflection, prayer, and spiritual growth
  • Radio Ministry, broadcasting Christ-centered teaching to more than 500,000 listeners across Uganda
  • Marriage & Family Ministry, including sacramental marriage blessings and healing retreats
  • Leadership Training & Development to raise up local servant leaders who guide their communities in faith
  • Bible Studies built around a curriculum developed by trained Biblicists
  • Service to the Poorest of the Poor, offering food, prayer, and practical support to those in urgent need

Real Impact in Fort Portal and Beyond

Since ICIC arrived, Fort Portal has become one of Uganda’s seven designated Tourism Cities—and one of its cleanest. Local leaders credit ICIC with helping reduce domestic violence, improve business culture, and strengthen public trust.

ICIC now supports over 1,700 participants through its ministries—serving a population where many can only contribute a dollar, a meal, or a prayer.
